It could have been so easy for me moan, curse about and get down about what has gone wrong but instead I decided to adopt an attitude of gratitude’ about the many things I have to be thankful in my life at present.
This focus on a positive mindset really helped me to enjoy my weekend and look past the present issues I was having.
You see there are times in our lives when we are so wrapped up and focused on what we want tomorrow – that we lack real appreciation and value for what we already have today.
In our efforts to gain more, we sometimes fail to recognise how valuable what we already have is. We run from our past and strive for our future, but forget to appreciate our present.
One of my favourite authors Deepak Chopra in his book The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success’ says, ‘The past is history, the future is a mystery but the present is a gift.’
Such a beautiful statement that I believe to be true. So as with any gift that we are given, we should appreciate the present, value it and not waste it.
Appreciate the many small gifts and simple joys that your life has for you today, right now. Develop an attitude of gratitude’ as gratitude raises your altitude.
It lifts you up when you are down, it props you up when you are weak and it makes you truly enjoy and appreciate life as it is, at this moment.
The essence of gratitude, is that not one moment, nothing in life, should be taken for granted. We are then able to see the magic that surrounds us, every second of every minute of every day.
Consider the words of Eric Hoffer ‘The hardest arithmetic to master is that which enables us to count our blessings.’
So count your many blessings, name them one by one, and it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.
