Fitness – make it a habit

Hi Everyone 🙂

Hope you all had a great weekend.

“The man who moves a mountain begins by carrying away small stones.” , Confucius

I often get asked, “How do you do it? Train and eat healthy on a regular basis.”

The answer is…I think of it like brushing my teeth. If I didn’t do it consistently I would feel yucky. I don’t even have to think about it now. It’s automatic. It doesn’t occur to me not to work out and eat healthy because it’s a habit I also happen to love.

I wasn’t always like that. It takes time, but behaviour can be changed. Make small changes. Ones that are sustainable and realistic. If you decide to go whole hog and make big and grand plans that you’re going to join a gym AND train every day AND lose 20 pounds in 12 weeks. It will not happen. Because…life happens.

So don’t put so much pressure on yourself. You need some flexibility in order to deal with the unexpected changes in priorities. Like an emergency meeting, a sick child, hitting the snooze button five times… And when these things happen, because you’ve allowed yourself some leeway, you won’t quit or be thrown off completely because your plan didn’t work out perfectly.

“Once you learn to quit, it becomes a habit.” , Vince Lombardi
So…don’t set yourself up to quit!
