Are You Mad?

WOW we are just over a week into the New Year, in a few days we will be half way through January 2012.

Here is a question for you have you started the year doing some of the some of the same things you did last year that were non productive?

I have heard it said that a definition of madness is, ‘Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.’ I wonder how many of us under this definition, could be classed as mad?

Too many people do the same things and have the same thoughts, but expect different things to happen to them. When nothing does, they ask, ‘Why me?’ Instead they should be asking, ‘What is it about me?’

If we want change, we have to change; if we want something different to happen in our lives, we have to do something different in our lives.

Simply put, if we want different outcomes from our lives we must have different inputs in our lives.

In order to become someone you have never been, you need to do something you have never done.

Commit today to changing the rules of engagement, where you dare to be different and dare to be unique. Be afraid of being the same.

Make a real commitment today for 2012, that turns your words into actions and your thoughts and ideas into tangible steps that bring you closer to your dreams and goals.

Consider the words of Victor Frank, ‘When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.’

It’s good to share, I always welcome your thoughts, use the comments box below.

Have a phenomenal week

  1. Oh God no…I have deliberatly started to do things differently. I hate the way that I have put on weight, hate the way it has made me look and feel….that is why have excersized a bit today, eating more fruit, continuing with my water intake, drinking red clover and slim tea, aloe vera, lemons and oranges too. I want to feel happy with myself, light, bouncy and full of energy funny again, so I will stick with it till I see the results.

  2. You go Carol! As Ken would quote – ‘what the mind can conceive it can achieve’ so keep visualising yourself realising your goals for 2012. keep us posted on how you are getting on and remember you have a supporter in PH! I read about a book called ‘The Willpower Instinct’ by Kelly McGonigal today in the Stylist magazine. It sounds like a good read. It gave some great practical tips to sticking to your goals like “slowing your breathing down to four to six breaths per minute…slowing the breath down activates the prefrontal cortex and increases heart rate variability, which helps shift the brain and body from a state of stress to self control mode”.
