‘Health is the greatest gift, contentment the greatest wealth, faithfulness the best relationship…to keep the body in good health is a duty…otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear’. Gautama Buddha.
If for any reason, this fact escaped you all you would need to do would be to look at Instagram and see all the pictures of healthy green smoothies, workout tips, motivational fitness quotes and health mantras. We are in the throes of resolution season! Day 16 – how are you doing with yours?
Over the last few years I have given up on specific resolutions; however I do find myself making an increased commitment every year to make my health and wellbeing a priority – in mind and body. The phrase often attributed to the poet Virgil, ‘health is your wealth’ has become cliqued but it’s true – invest in it and you can often reap the rewards later on in life.
Investing in your health
As much as I appreciate the services provided by the National Health Service, having spent some time living overseas where private healthcare has been a requirement for access to treatment I have become accustomed to paying for the peace of mind that comes with it. Even when we endeavour to take care of ourselves, life happens and we can be taken by surprise – I have personally benefited from the speed of care following a medical procedure through my health insurer, in contrast to the waiting time of friends with health complications. It makes you see the value of the service that healthcare insurers like Bupa provide.
We insure our home contents, buildings, cars, travel and even life (after death) so why not insure our health (while we are alive)?
Ensuring your health – Is health insurance right for you?
Health insurance usage has declined as people are hesitant to bind themselves to monthly payments and many have traditionally seen health insurance as a luxury expense. After 60 years in the health care business Bupa has adapted their services to suit the needs of the modern day customer. So if you are focused on managing the things you can’t control in relation to your wellbeing it may be worth checking out Bupa’s new initiative ‘Our Focus is Your Health’. Just like your mobile phone service provider you can get a contract or pay as you go using services to suit your health needs, with Bupa healthcare you don’t need to take out a monthly healthcare insurance to access their service professionals.
