A New Day, A New Dawn

Referring to my ‘On Reflection‘ blog at the beginning of October, I said that I had something big to reveal.

Well, the time has come for me to share with you all that I am going to hand over the ‘Soulful Sunday’ reigns temporarily as of the beginning of December to the omnipotent and diversely talented Afrikan Yoga Master Pablo Imani, whilst I prepare myself for a major change in my life; motherhood!

Let the countdown commence, as of today I have only 10 weeks before my due date which isn’t that far away to say the least. To all you expectant mothers and mothers out there, I don’t know about you, but when I first found out I was pregnant I thought I had plenty of time to organise and adjust my life which hasn’t been the case at all.

I was filled with so much emotion when I first discovered that I had been picked, chosen, blessed to take on the task of becoming a mother.

You’re probably questioning the language I’ve chosen to describe being pregnant, which is fair enough, but I truly do believe it’s out of our hands when it comes to procreating. Your pregnancy can be planned or unplanned as much as your heart desires, but until the hand of ‘Good Fortune’ touches you it can sometime feel like it’s just the luck of the draw.

Let’s discuss the emotional side a bit more. I was filled with immense joy and elation, at the same time I sensed an element of fear settling in because here I am, a career driven entrepreneurial woman who on appearance has everything sorted on the outside and for the most part, inside too.

Suddenly, to be faced with the prospect of being responsible for someone other than yourself and for your life to be turned completely upside down in the nicest possible way, where you no longer have any control of the changes that are about to happen.

The only thing for me to do was to embrace this journey wholeheartedly and adjust my life accordingly which is easily said and done when you’re constantly asking yourself questions like:

Have I done and achieved enough in my life?

Am I truly ready to embrace the role of motherhood?

What kind of parents will my partner and I make?

Answers on a postcard please!

I would love to hear about how you first felt when you found out that you were about to become a parent.

Next week, I will talk about my eating habits!

Stay blessed.

Kehinde 🙂
